Awareness

My friend works as a nurse in the hospital part-time. It may be inferred therefore that she has told me several stories of what goes on in the sparkling rooms that smell of antiseptic. Moreover she works on the cancer floor. And this is evidence to the fact that she is brave.
There are children there and she says some of them are really young.
There are women there she says that are but twenty years of age.
My heart goes out to them. My friend is very strong willed and I commend her for her selfless and gracious heart. I wish I was able to help people as she does. I just don’t think I would have the courage enough to face the children. I would want to hold their hand. But I would want to touch their heart. She tells me that the patients talk about anything and everything. They talk about the life they have lived. It doesn’t matter who you are, they will share with you intimacies that may seem a trifle delicate and you yourself may be embarrassed to hear it. But what does it matter. They have cancer.

And that is why I want to bring to light something very important. Even though there is not much awareness of such issues at the school or college level in India, I think that if possible you should get yourself examined for cancer. 1 in 9 women are diagnosed with breast cancer. And men can get it too. It can be anyone of any age ranging from 18 to 50. An alumni from our school (VM) was diagnosed with it. My grandmother was diagnosed with it and passed away as a result.
It could be your friend.
It could be you.
I looked it up today. They give you a list of symptoms online. If you think it is in any way applicable to you, please act.
I want you to be able to do something about it
before
it
is
too
late
I dont want to lose you
